REFLECTIONS

One of the biggest challenges facing third world democracy where the institution’s fallibility is grounded in the human element is when the general public know they have a greater competency than the officers they elected to office!

What is it with smart people whose teams are made up of incompetents? Don’t they realise that it is such a poor reflection on themselves?

The State of our Roads!

Back in 2000 i used to regularly ply the Accra Kumasi road and leaving at night or early in the morning, it was a journey which consistently took less than two hours.

On one occasion i left for Bolga watched Kotoko play RTU and returned to Accra the same day…… Now this road has become treacherous to say the least.

Waiting for a large vehicle to come to Accra today took in excess of 6 hours… The road has become a movement deterrent unless you have absolutely no choice!

The effect on productivity and civil movement is horrendous. This is not a dig at either political party, both of whom are culpable for the current mess, i am just saddened that we appear worse off now than in 1999 when i started to use the road in earnest!

The Silent Majority

The most powerful force are the silent majority. They are nature’s creation who are under estimated by the minority (who invariably make the most noise) and ignored until their day of reckoning dawns….. at which time it is too late to change destiny.

Their sense of indignation to wrong doing and injustice is what ultimately guides a nation rather than propaganda or intimidation!

LENNY … A true pal

Grief is such a personal thing… you are left with an emptiness in which the air is scentless and still.

The lifeless corpse serves as notice of our future, an indication of our total fallibility as well as the connection with sadness.

We are all connected by the stream that descends from our eyes and yet the tears mean so many different things at different moments to different people.

Is the book closed or are the leaves representative of memories which one day will bring back the smile and possibly the laughter.

There may indeed be an after life but we must live what we have honestly and to the fullest until the Big Man upstairs determines otherwise….. after all Lenny did ! 😦

Opportunities.

Opportunities come and when they do the smart ones make a plan to be a part of them knowing that the same chance may not reappear in the near future….

Those who don’t are confined to the world of fantasy and make-believe.

Growing Up!

The problems with split loyalties is that the future is flawed and doomed before we start.

Our transition into maturity comes when we cut our umbilical cord with our parents and accept our partners in a different but more relevant role….

The Greater Selfless Good!

There are two sides to every coin and so is the case with many things. Ego and fear come to mind and we can look at the negative which is gorged with selfishness and arrogance or we can look at the positive side and manage the two.

The adrenalin rush which comes with using the two positively can help bring light where there is darkness and allow the wind to bring life and positivity.

The key for all of us is to learn to manage the two for the greater selfless good!

Inner Strength!

Inner strength in times of difficulty is the challenge we all face. But if we are to succeed in life then we must rise to this challenge

Negative thoughts create all the chaos in our lives. And of all the negative thoughts possible, doubt may be the deadliest.

Wise Words from a Wise Man…

My father always used to council me on new friendships and when someone came looking for help.

He used to say to me to me … “It is those people you help or introduce to a new way of life who will either betray you in a deadly way or simply malign you”.

Life circumstances make it difficult to trust anyone these days, but we are all fighting some sort of battle within…no one is without some sort of problem in their lives….that is such a difficult question to answer…I have helped many people and would like to hold someone’s hand who is in need of comfort and shake hands with friends or any new person I meet…but…how can you tell the difference between a true friend and an enemy….that’s an even harder question… Worse is even though i may may not be a quitter and do not bear grudges, others do which makes associations all the more deadly!
