Most sports administrators accountable to themselves – Herbert Mensah

Most sports administrators in Ghana fail to deliver because they are accountable to themselves, former Chairman of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Herbert Mensah, has said.

Mr. Mensah who is currently the President of the Ghana Rugby Football Union in an interview with Kasapa Sports among other institutions called out the Ghana Football Association (FA) as a perfect case study.

“We don’t need the commission like the white paper now because the Football Association is reacting to the commission paper saying they exceeded their bounds of authority.

“The state of sports in this country is in a bad way because the people who are elected to govern and administer the sport are only accountable to themselves.”

Most of these administrators he adds are not “emancipated enough” to make and take decisions “based upon integrity and what they believe”.

“The cabal that runs Ghana today… are people who ultimately do not find the sense of direction and integrity from the top or the lack of provision or the right kind of vision is correct.”
